Idaho is a place that has been long neglected from contemporary arts cultural discourse of the NW, the SW, the W and everywhere else in the US, because why would anyone care? It is hard to tell the difference between ID and IA if you are coastal/bicoastal/living in Portugal, or otherwise occupied with thinking about places that art happens in that are not ID.

Idaho art writing is for Idaho. This is an expression of a need to document and consider the arts that are taking place now, and a step toward creating a story of ID art for ID artists and etc, so that maybe possibly we can make our art better by increasing the complexity and duration of the discussion of this art. And yes, it is really frustrating to put months/years into the creation of an exhibition / show / work and to never see it reflected/complicated/considered/engaged with beyond the exalted moment of yelling into your friend’s ear over a din of others doing the same at your friend’s opening.

So that is it- art writing about Idaho art:
show reviews, interviews, approaches, responses. Get in touch if you want to publish something here.
All art someone considers worth writing about will be included.
